Melfort director of development, planning and community relations resigns

Brent Lutz, Melfort’s director of development, planning and community relations, announced his resignation at the December board meeting, citing a job elsewhere.

“I was given an opportunity and it’s an exciting opportunity,” Lutz said.

“I’m very passionate about the community, the future is very bright, there’s a lot on the horizon for the community and in many ways it’s kind of hard to walk away knowing those opportunities are there. – to see them all made. The opportunity that we are seizing and that will take us away from the community is certainly an opportunity to advance my career and it is a position with more responsibilities and to take advantage of the experience that I have acquired here.

Lutz began his role at City in 2010. His last day in office is Dec. 30. He said he was not yet free to say where he will work, but it is within the administration of another municipality.

Looking back, he said the biggest achievement he had worked on in the last decade was the creation of the Melfort Wellness Centre.

“The improvement in health services that kind of surrounded what involved going from eight doctors to 14 doctors now practicing here, seeing the helipad set up and the scanner… It was a major breakthrough for the community.”
