Bridgerton Star Jonathan Bailey spoke about his character Anthony’s journey in the upcoming second season of the Netflix show.
The hit period drama is set to finally return later this month, with Anthony Bridgerton moving into the spotlight this time around.
The actor admitted that the next batch of episodes will delve into the toxic nature of male characters, admitting that “you’re never really behind the men” in period dramas, “or know Why they are avoidant and toxic.”

Talk to QGBailey revealed that Anthony’s negative personality traits show a man mourning the loss of his father as he struggles to fulfill his role.
The star explained that he “started thinking about [Anthony’s] charm” and “what it means to be a rake, and how his anxiety and self-hatred play into that”.
Added creator Chris Van Dusen: “Going into the first season, I wanted to completely break Anthony up, so we could put him back together in the second.”

Bailey also opened up about his own personal life, admitting the show forced him to “think a lot about love”.
“You put your life experiences into [the work]”, he added. “The most interesting thing is not necessarily having to talk about what it is, and maintaining a sense of intimacy.
It arrives a few days later Bridgerton released its latest trailer, which teases Anthony’s romantic dilemma with Edwina and Kate Sharma, as well as a bit of Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice back with a soaked shirt.
