10 Actors Who Should Play Wiccan And Hulkling In The MCU

After the events of Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there’s no doubt that Marvel is slowly building to cover the Young Avengers. Cassie Lang, America Chavez, Kate Bishop, and Elijah Bradley have already been introduced in the MCU. While Billy and Tommy Maximoff were also technically introduced in Wanda Vision it remains to be seen who will play the more adult versions of them when this team inevitably debuts.

Hulking is another founding member of the Young Avengers but has yet to be introduced in the MCU. In the comics, Billy Kaplan (Wiccan) is romantically involved with Teddy Altman (Hulkling). As one of the most prolific representations of the LGBTQ+ community, Wiccan and Hulkling are fan favorites. Fans have expressed their desire to see these two together in live-action as well as who they would like to see in these roles.

Julien Hillard

Julian Hilliard as Billy Maximoff Senor Scratchy WandaVision

Julian Hillard plays young Billy Maximoff, but after the events of Wanda Vision and Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wiccan’s future in the MCU remains a mystery. It may take a few years for the full plan to materialize, and at this point Hillard may be old enough to continue in his role.

It would certainly be rewarding for fans to see the same actor take on the character as he grows up. This would allow Hillard to spend time honing his craft and gaining experience to play such a powerful and important character in the MCU. This choice is unlikely, however, as it seems that the Young Avengers are appearing more and more frequently in the MCU. Whatever happens, Hillard left an impression on fans with his portrayal of the young Wiccan.

Joshua Rush

Joshua Rush became the first openly gay character to appear on Disney Channel when he was cast as Andi Mack. When discussing who the boy wizard could play, his name is often mentioned because not only does he look like the character, but he also shares Jewish heritage with Wiccan from the comics.

Rush is young enough to be able to play the character for years, and that would allow movies to go beyond the comics with the kind of stories they could tell. Although he has yet to break into a major cinematic scene, Rush certainly has the talent and ability to bring a beloved young superhero to life.

Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet in Dune

The biggest star on this list, it’s only a matter of time before Timothée Chalamet joins the MCU. Although noticeably older than the comic book character, Chalamet could easily age enough to become a believable Wiccan for the MCU with clothes and makeup.

Chalamet’s involvement in the new Dunes franchise as well as the next Wonka the film could complicate things if he accepted a role in the MCU. Still, the energy he brings to all of his roles would lend itself well to the iconic role, and he’d easily be able to lead a team of young superheroes.

Finn Wolfhard

Finn Wolfhard is a rising star already featured in major franchises like stranger things, Thisand Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It’s only a matter of time before he’s cast by Marvel for a role. Wolfhard was already rumored to be joining the MCU, but confirmation of which character remains to be seen.

Wiccan is extremely powerful in the comics and the MCU likely has major plans for this character, so it makes sense that Marvel would be looking to cast a popular and well-known actor for the role who could play him for a long time. One thing is for sure, no matter who Wolfhard ends up playing in the MCU, it will be a hit.

Joe Locke

A recent Wiccan fan favorite, Joe Locke has risen to prominence with the recent popularity of the Netflix hit. Heart stroke where he plays Charlie Spring, a young gay teenager who ends up falling in love with Nick Nelson, a seemingly straight jock.

The character of Charlie Spring shares many personality traits with Wiccan. Both characters are polite and respectful and are often easily shaken when faced with difficult scenarios. Many Heart stroke fans campaigned for Kit Connor to be cast as the Hulkling alongside him. Plus, with all the controversy around straight actors playing gay characters, it would be refreshing and rewarding to see a talented young gay actor play Wiccan in the MCU.

Walker Scobell

Walker Scobell, though young, is no stranger to big action movies. He managed to stand up to Ryan Reynolds in The Adam Project and recently starred as Percy Jackson in the upcoming Disney+ series. If Marvel indeed delays the introduction of the Hulkling for a few years, Scobell would be a perfect fit.

He looks like the character and is also young enough to fit in perfectly with the younger versions of Billy and Tommy. If cast, he would be a major asset to the film. Scobell is very talented and will only get better with time. If Marvel indeed delays introducing the Young Avengers for a few years, Scobell will definitely be at the top of the list for Hulkling.

Michael Cimino

Love Victor Michael Cimino

Skyrocketing popularity in Love, Victor, Michael is no stranger to playing a powerful queer character. He is relatively young and promises to grow as an actor, and should be a major star in the years to come.

Like many others on this list, Cimino doesn’t have many major acting roles, but that could be a good thing. Many of the actors who have been cast as the Young Avengers were previously relatively unknown, giving actors a great opportunity to grow and develop alongside their characters in the franchise.

Derek Chadwick

Although little known or experienced, Derek Chadwick would have portrayed Hulkling in the MCU. He would be a great counterpart to Timothee Chalamet’s older version of Wiccan.

The 26-year-old actor and model looks like he was ripped from the Hulkling of the comics and placed in our world. Hulkling and Wiccan in the comics have a very deep and loving relationship, so an older depiction of them would help portray that live, and provide much-needed representation to often-missing support.

Nicholas Hamilton

Nicholas Hamilton caught fans’ attention for his portrayal of Henry Bowers in THIS. Hulkling is a super-strong, shape-shifting alien with a fighting style that models the Hulk who also has a soft, loving side, so it would be fun to see Hamilton play a superhero with such a wide range.

He certainly has the looks and the physique to play the Hulkling, and like similar entries on this list, he’s young enough that he could continue to play that role for years to come. Hamilton also recently came out as gay, which would also add some authenticity to the role and serve to diversify the MCU, as that has been one of his main goals for these new projects.

Kit Connor

Kit Connor’s portrayal of bisexual jock Nick Nelson in Heart stroke stole the hearts of audiences and managed to accurately portray what it feels like when someone starts to question their sexuality. Almost immediately after Heart stroke debuted on Netflix, fans began pointing out the similarities between Wiccan and Hulkling and Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson couples. Not only do they match in appearance, but the relationship between the two is very reminiscent of Wiccan and Hulkling in the comics.

Kit Connor has the build to perfectly represent the shapeshifting hero, who most often shows up with blonde hair and muscles. Since the Hulkling is physically larger, he often places himself as a kind of protector for Wiccan, which is similar to how Kit Connor portrays the character Nick Nelson as a protector for Charlie in Heart stroke.
